The Federal Ministry of Education has said that the results of the 2017 National Common Entrance Examination can be accessed , contrary to the claim of some parents .
This is just as the Federal Government has put the cut off mark of the examination at 126 , while declaring 25 , 000 carrying capacities for the schools .
About 77 , 512 final year primary school pupils sat for the entrance examination into the 104 Federal Unity schools across the country in April.
Some parents had complained that they could not access the results when they checked online. Some of the parents , who spoke with our correspondent on Thursday , expressed fears that the results might be doctored .
“ I could not see the result when I checked on behalf of my daughter on fmeinterviewtest . com . The only message I got was , ‘ You have been shortlisted for consideration . Pease check back for your admission status. ’ I think that is ambiguous. This is Nigeria and the results could have been changed by the time we go back to the schools for admission , ’’ said a parent who preferred anonymity .
Another parent, Mr . Musa Ahmed , said the result should have been released immediately, adding that “ the rational thing to do is to release the result . That a child has been shortlisted is not the result everyone is expecting . ”
However , the Director of Press in the ministry , Mrs. Chinenye Ihuoma, has said that the results have been released , saying that parents should report discrepancies to the ministry . She added that many parents had accessed the results online.
She said , “The allegation is false . Nobody can manipulate the results . It has never happened and it will not . The Federal Ministry of Education did not tamper with the result . The scores can be accessed from FME websites , all FGCs , and NECO offices in all the states . Any difference from the checking point should be reported to the ministry . Other people succeeded using that link. Let them keep trying . The FME will do placement in July as earlier indicated. ’’
Ihuoma added that the ministry would consider national merit and equality during placement in July.
“ The declared carrying capacity for 2017 /2018 academic session is 25 , 000 out of about 77 , 000 that sat for the examination. Sixty per cent of the 25 , 000, which is 15 , 000 , are on national merit . The cut off is 126 . Thirty per cent of the 25 , 000, which is 7 , 500, is equality of the state for cohesion and unity. This varies from state to state and considers gender . Ten per cent is other factors such as those from foreign mission. Majorly, two parameters are in use and they are national merit and equality of state , ’’ she added .
When our correspondent checked the website on Thursday evening , there was no link yet to view the results .
